Typical Counseling & Substance Abuse Engagements
  • A young man experiences anxiety, sadness, decreased motivation, and hopelessness. Although he initially thought it was just a “bad week”, these symptoms are lingering. A professional counselor helps him identify the probable causes and provides guidance for improving his emotional health.

  • Care-giving for an aging parent and being a single parent has become overwhelming for a middle age woman. A counselor helps her express her emotional stress, identify additional resources, create a self-care plan, and help regain her energy and effectiveness.

  • A father is concerned about his adolescent daughter’s use of drugs and alcohol. He doesn’t know how to address the issue or where to turn for help. Meeting with an Alcohol and Drug Counselor helps him recognize the signs of addiction, understand how to talk to his daughter, and clarify his fears as well as his expectations of her.
  • Job loss and financial difficulties are causing strain in a marriage. Both partners wonder whether the relationship can weather this difficult time. A Marriage Counselor helps the couple learn to manage their stress, communicate more honestly and effectively, and clarify priorities.
